Jazz in the VillagE BY MILLAR AND SPENCER

SATURDAY 3RD MAY from 18:30

Welcome to Jazz in the Village! Join us for an evening of smooth tunes and good vibes at Holme Lacy Village Hall. Get ready to tap your feet and snap your fingers to the sounds of talented jazz musicians. This in-person event is the perfect opportunity to relax, unwind, and enjoy some live music in a cozy setting. Don't miss out on this unique experience - mark your calendars and come jam with us in the village!

Ian Millar and Dominic Spencer will be performing on Saturday, 3rd May from 18:30. They are unique in the UK Jazz community taking their blend of melodic jazz standards and original compositions to rural communities all over the UK. They use programmable lighting and table lights to create a wonderful intimate atmosphere for the music.

They tell stories of their travels in their Tour Bus – an old converted Yorkshire Ambulance, in an entertaining evening of creative music and enthusiastic joy.

Based in Edinburgh, Scotland, Ian (saxophones) and Dominic (piano) have been performing together for a number of years playing melodic improvisations on jazz standards and original compositions. Their style of jazz concentrates on developing melodic ideas within the framework of the melody of a tune, whilst maintaining the concept and groove behind it.

The result is a very accessible melodic style which allows them to explore, improvise and develop ideas without losing the essence of each piece of music, and to interact together in as creative a way as possible.

They have had enormous success over many years during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with their very successful show “Jazz at Lunchtime”. Thousands of people have come to see them perform, with many sell-out shows.

Our licensed bar will also be open to purchase a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Ticket price: £15.

This is a ticketed event. To purchase a ticket please visit our ticketing provider by clicking here or collect a ticket from the village hall on a Friday evening.
